Charity Organisation background

Homeless Charity Jimmy’s Shelter, Allia Future and New Meaning came together for a project in Cambridge to help end the cycle of homelessness in the city. Overall are 6 Modular pods, 5 were set aside for those experiencing homelessness and one for a volunteer acting as a warden.

Jimmy’s wrote on Instagram 2020 – “Jimmy’s is here to help people who’ve previously been rough sleeping, and give them a home, and this project allows us to give 6 people a home. People have waited patiently and are really excited to move in” The homes were built near the city centre in Cambridge and individuals moved in, in mid-June.

The Land is unused and if needed the homes can be relocated. However, residents have the choice to move with them. Due to the pandemic, rough sleepers were allocated rooms in hotels. The pods completion date was detrimental to individuals having a home.

SuperSip’s Involvement

The Modular Pods; 25 Square metres were the first of their kind here in the UK. Supersips were extremely honored to work with these organisations. Firstly we assisted on finding a cost effective design. Secondly, Detailing and fabrication of steel work began. Thirdly, SIP manufacturing and fabrication. Lastly, the client constructed the final build. At all these stages Supersips were available for advice.
