The self build process
Foundations
To start your project you will need to decide what type of foundations your building will sit on. Our FAQ's can help point you in the right direction.
Studio
Kits enable you to build swiftly as all the parts are supplied cut and ready to install. This is by far the smoothest way to order and build, it can be done in a weekend and made watertight soon after.
Go to kitsRoof
EPDM roofs are very popular on our studio kits. We have a page dedicated to roof types to help you find the right solution for your project.
Wrap
Breathable membrane wrap will be needed to make your project waterproof. A popular type is HouseWrap from Tyvek who also sell the tape you require to join it.
Cladding
The cladding will define what your finished project will look like and also provide weather protection. Choosing cladding is a mix of asthetics and durability.
Openings
Doors, windows, ventilators etc. There are numerous options and these should be considered early in your project as they represent one of the significant costs not supplied by SuperSIPs.
Internals
The main consideration for a DIYer with the internal specificaion is how to run things like water and electricity, making it fireproof, and finally the asthetics. Read our Knowledge base for more information.
Electrics
Getting power to your project needs a handful of careful considerations. Where will the power come from, how to install it safely and tips and tricks of working with SIP panels.
Plumbing
Similar to electricity, if you want water in your project, you will need to plan how to get it to your building and away from your building, or the use of grey water collected off the roof. Visit our knowledge base for help.
