Our SuperSIPs Panels

World-class Thermal Performance

SuperSIPs Structural Insulated Panels offer one of the highest levels of Thermal Performance of any readily available, off-site manufactured building material. Thermal efficiency is maintained throughout a building's life when our SIPs are used. The closed cell foam does not allow moisture ingress to degrade the insulation performance as can occur with mineral wools and blown cellulose fibre products. A house built with SuperSIPs will give energy savings of 40%-60% compared to a timber framed house of equal size and insulation U- value.

No job too big or too small

SIPs can be used as structural walls, floors, roofs & internal partitions, either together or independently. They can also be used in timber or steel framed buildings. However the greatest savings in time, energy and materials used is achieved when the complete structure is made with SIPs. Any type of conventional finish can be applied to a SuperSIPs building shell.

Panel sizes

All SuperSIPs panels start life as 1.220m wide panels and are available in various lengths: 2.440m, 2.700m & 3.000m. These can be cut to produce panel to suit any location in your plan. Efficient use of panels saves material & money - i.e. you can efficiently use panels 900mm and 300mm wide, by cutting a 1.220m wide panel but, if the pieces were wider i.e. 1000mm & 400mm, these would need to be cut out of two panels, producing off-cuts that may not be used elsewhere. Let us help you design out waste by suggesting ways in which off-cuts can be either used or avoided.

Panel thickness

SuperSIPs panels are most commonly produced in the following thicknesses: 100mm, 125mm, 150mm & 175mm. They are also available 200mm, 225mm & 250mm thickness if required. Depending upon the internal & external finish of your walls, different thicknesses of SuperSIPs panels can be used to provide the most energy efficient combination to suit your needs. Let us show you how SuperSIPs structural insulated panels can be used with a variety of internal & external finishes, including render. Take a look at some examples in our Gallery.

U-Values

In the following table you can see that increasing thickness increases thermal performance but the improvement in U-Value is diminishing: Thickness: 100 U-Value: 0.27 Thickness: 125 U-Value: 0.21 Thickness: 150 U-Value: 0.17 Thickness: 175 U-Value: 0.14 Thickness: 200 U-Value: 0.12 It is therefore vital to improve the building energy design to take advantage of such things as thermal mass, solar gain, etc to avoid increased cost and still achieving the desired level of thermal performance and energy efficiency. U-Values

Definition of U-Value: “A measure of air-to-air heat transmission (loss or gain) due to thermal conductance and the difference in indoor and outdoor temperatures, in relation to an area of material, expressed as w/m2k (Watts per Square Metre Kelvin)”. As the U-Value decreases, so does the amount of heat transferred through the material , i.e. the lower the U-Value, the better the Insulation.
